Water’s Edge Music Festival

Thanks to the good travel writer over at theseboots.travel, I am the delighted recipient of two tickets to the Water’s Edge Music Festival in Coquitlam. It’s at the Evergreen Cultural Centre, where my good friend, Florence Debeugny, is having a photo exhibition called Maillardville 100 and beyond - a celebration of 100 years of that community.

In Maillardville itself, they’re having the annual Festival du Bois. Too bad I can’t get to both festivals.

Becoming a Kiva donor

I’ve meant to become a Kiva donor for a while now, but just got around to it this week. One of the things they ask, as part of the profile that donors set up, is why we donate. When I thought about what drew me to this project, it’s because I grew up poor, and then spent so many years living somewhere around the poverty line that now, I’m motivated to help people who are in poverty conditions, and are ambitious enough to better their situations for themselves and their families.
